The best thing that you can do before you sign up is to do a regular cardio workout on your own. That way you don’t have to waste your precious time at a gym improving your stamina and getting in shape and you can start with basic techniques.

That said at some stages you can make some progress on your own once you learn the basics. For example, you don’t need much guidance to do shadow boxing cause it should be your own unique expression of fighting. You can also do some heavy-bag drills on your own.

But obviously, you cannot spar on your own. And sparring is an essential part of comprehensive Muay Thai training.

Get yourself in great physical shape. This way you will not waste precious time at the gym getting yourself in shape but instead, you'll start fighting techniques straight away.

Before you start rolling hard objects on your shins or kicking banana trees try to condition them on heavy punching bags. Once your shins are hard enough you can start kicking harder banana bags.
